The New York State Mentoring Program, reinstated by Governor Cuomo in 2015, is a partnership between NYS and various schools who work with volunteer mentors to serve as positive role models for students. ITS, in collaboration with the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), designed and built a new, more user-friendly NYS Mentoring Program registration and reporting system replacing a tool previously built and managed by a vendor.
The new system, was built in two months and delivers more robust capabilities that providing an improved user experience for the entire NYS Mentoring Program, its participating schools and citizens. Enhancements include: an online application form that allows mentors to edit information after the application is submitted, it also allows OCFS staff and participating schools to manage mentor data and efficiently pair up mentors with students and, school coordinators can maintain their school status, contact information, and other information in real time.
