The 19th Annual New York State Cyber Security Conference and 11th Annual Symposium on Information Assurance held June 8-9, 2016 at the Empire State Plaza, had record-breaking attendance, with over 1,200 registrants. Recognized as the premier Northeast conference for cyber security education, the event is co-hosted by the New York State Office of Information Technology Services, the NYS Forum, Inc., and the University at Albany's School of Business.
Tim Brown, Dell Fellow and CTO of Dell Security, opened the Conference on June 8 with his keynote talk, Focusing the Cyber Security Lens. The June 9 keynotes were provided by Jason Healey, Senior Research Scholar at Columbia University, and Senior Fellow of the Atlantic Council and Michele Markoff, Deputy Coordinator for Cyber Issues at the U.S. Department of State.
This year two pre-conference training classes on risk management and threat hunting were offered on June 7. Two additional interactive learning sessions were offered on the first day of the conference, including a cyber threat simulation exercise that allowed attendees to role play the incident response process. Conference breakout sessions covered a wide range of cyber themes with topics for everyone from the end user to the IT professional.
The co-hosts wish to thank the presenters, sponsors, exhibitors, attendees and volunteers for making this another successful year.
