ITS is consolidating 53 data centers into the state's two enterprise tier-3 data centers.
The data center provides a stable and highly secure environment with full back-up and recovery capability to ensure high availability of state applications. The tier-3 designation brings an expectation of 99.982% availability, full redundancy, greater business continuity, and disaster recovery capabilities.
Sending an eFax.
To use eFax, you will need to be running Office 365 and Outlook email.
- Open a new Outlook email document from your NYS-issued PC (or VDI) using Office 365.
- Create your secure eFax by entering content in the body of your email. Be sure to add any necessary attachments.
- Address the email to the receiving fax machine's 10-digit fax number , including the area code (i.e.: (FAX)[email protected]).
- To send the same fax to multiple addresses, simply separate each 10-digit fax number email address with a semicolon as shown: [email protected]; [email protected].
- Once your email content is complete and addressed to the receiving fax number(s), click Send.
What is eFax?
eFax is an Internet fax capability that makes it easy and convenient to send and receive faxes by email and online using your desktop computer running Office 365 and Outlook.
Is eFax Secure?
Your eFaxes are protected by CISO-approved encryption, so you can be confident in the level of security they will have. This encryption also means that your eFaxes are compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
ITS provides secure networking and desktop support for more than 38,000 workstations on 1,600 miles of fiber. By tapping into our team's experience maintaining large critical and complex networks, your agency will be free to focus on mission-critical activities. Internet Access: required infrastructure and licensing for proxy service, malware scanning, and content filtering (website blocking and/or restricting) to provide safe and secure Internet access.
Managed Workplace Local Area Network (LAN): connects workstations and network devices to critical applications hosted in state data centers.
Customer Desktop Management: centralized services for safe and secure connections to the NYeNet, ITS Statewide Data Centers, Internet Services, and other agencies and vendors.

Emergency Remote Office: temporary "offices" to provide critical human services and disaster assistance.
OneImage: multiple workstations configured the same way through high speed workstation imaging.
Statewide Network (NYeNET)
The NYeNet backbone is a "digital backbone" of high-capacity fiber optic cables with network access points (NAP) across New York State. ITS's current backbone configuration operates at a speed of 10 GB, or approximately 10 billion bits per second.
Organizations connected to the NYeNet are able to share information and access common applications via a connection between two fiber channel controls. The NYeNet can provide your organization with statewide connectivity at competitive speeds and prices to meet your needs.
