Overview: 

Multiple vulnerabilities have been discovered in Adobe Flash Player that could allow remote code execution. Adobe Flash Player is a widely distributed multimedia and application player used to enhance the user experience when visiting web pages or reading email messages.

Successful exploitation could result in an attacker gaining the same privileges as the logged on user. Depending on the privileges associated with the user, an attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user access.

  • Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.70 and earlier versions for Windows and Macintosh
  • Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.341 and earlier versions for Linux

Description: 

Adobe Flash Player is prone to multiple vulnerabilities that could allow for remote code execution.  The details for these vulnerabilities are as follows:

Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities could result in an attacker gaining the same privileges as the logged on user. Depending on the privileges associated with the user, an attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user access.

Actions: 
  • Install the updates provided by Adobe immediately after appropriate testing.
  • Run all software as a non-privileged user (one without administrative privileges) to diminish the effects of a successful attack.
  • Remind users not to visit un-trusted websites or follow links provided by unknown or un-trusted sources.
  • Remind users not to open email attachments from unknown users or suspicious emails from trusted sources.
